Modern dressers still feature mirrors but they are usually placed as "vanity stations" with a slot for a low stool or chair. The cabinets and drawers flank the space for the chair. The spacious work tops of modern dressers are designed for keeping cosmetics and other trinkets on them without appearing messy or cluttered.
When choosing a dresser, always bear in mind your needs and the design that you want. It is not impossible to get both at the same time, you just need to know where and how to look your choices. Set a budget, and try not to go over that budget without sacrificing quality.
An oak dresser is an important piece of furniture to have in a period dining room and of course, your bedroom. This is because a dresser is something that was most prevalent in Victorian times, and was most often used as side tables for dressing food before serving, but in the bedroom dressers were and are used for storing clothes.
The Double Dresser. This is one of the most commonly used bedroom furniture dressers today. Double dressers are short and wide with many drawers - the number of drawers will usually range from six to nine, arranged in rows of twos or threes. Some double dressers come with a dressing mirror attached on top or hanging right above. If you are looking for high capacity storage, then a double dresser will likely do the trick.
There are many makes and designs of dressers that are now on sale in the market. Some are already made and ready for pick-up, while some offer personalization services. If you have specific preferences for your dresser, you can now talk to the craftsman and tell him how you want your dresser made. But what designs of dressers are there available that would suit your budget, preferences on design and of course, functionality?
Another important thing to take into consideration when purchasing a dresser is the size dresser you need. The last thing you want to do is find a dresser that you really like, purchase it, and bring it home only to discover that it wont fit in your bedroom. For that reason, its an absolute must that you take room measurements before you go shopping for your dresser. Measure the space you have available to store a dresser and only look at dressers that will accommodate those measurements.
